Welcome Message from District 2 City Councilmember, Cesar Zepeda:
Happy New Year, Hilltop District Neighborhood!
I am honored and humbled to say that I am now your City Councilmember, for District 2! For over 40 years Hilltop had not had a City Councilmember represent them, however, with your support, we changed that. As I write this email, I am a few days a way from being sworn into office. I have already rolled up my sleeves and started working for our community. I have met with several community leaders, residents, businesses, and City staff to start conversations about what is needed and how we will work together to get things accomplished.
Our District 2 is very diverse and different in every way. Comments I have received so far are that I am a councilmember like they haven’t seen before. I’m here to work for you. I want to work with everyone, and while we might not always agree on everything, I do hope we can work on things that we do agree on and be able to compromise on things we don’t; all for the purpose of uplifting our City and District.
In District 2 is all of the west side of Richmond, from north to south; Hilltop District, Parchester, Shield Reids, North Richmond, Santa Fe, Point Richmond, and a sliver of Marina Bay, and all of the water of Richmond. We have 6 Neighborhood Councils in the District. I have reached out to every neighborhood asking them for their top 5 issues to work on during my first 100 days, and plan to have this be a new year’s resolution every year.
I’ve hit the ground running and will continue to fight for our community. I will need help from everyone. I will be creating a District 2 advisory committee to help advise me on several areas, including budget and finance, economic development, housing, environment, transportation, and others. If you have some time to volunteer, please reach out.
If you have any questions or need to report an issue in our community, please email me at RichmondD2Councilmember@gmail.com (until my city email is activated). You can also reach out via my website at www.CesarZepeda.com. We are creating a District 2 website where people will be able to submit any questions and report issues. Hope to be able to provide updates to all open issues until they are completed. Accountability is a big priority for me.
I look forward to working with and for everyone in our district and city. I wish you and your loved ones a happy and prosperous new year.
Sincerely,
Your Councilmember Cesar Zepeda
