2023 New Years Message from HDNC President, Bhavin Khatri

Greetings Hilltop District Neighborhood Council Residents and Stakeholders,

Happy New Year! Health and happiness to you in the new year ahead. Due to overwhelming support received throughout the year, the Hilltop District Neighborhood council managed to host several meetings and successful events throughout last year. Here are some of the accomplishments:

·       Hosted four membership meetings, including an annual election meeting. The meeting included presentation from the city of Richmond Planning Department on Hilltop Horizon, presentation from Prologis on future of the Mall, presentation from the City Manager, presentation from the RPD Chief, and many more.
·       Hosted a successful summer event at the Summer Lane HOA clubhouse.
·       Hosted District 2 Candidate Forum.
·       Hosted Neighborhood Dumpster Day.
·       Worked with the city to remove abandoned gateway sign by the freeway. ·       Worked with the city to approve new gateway sign at the corner of the Blume Drive and Richmond Parkway. The new sign will be installed shortly!

I’d like to thank all the volunteers as well as the executive board who generously donated their precious time and worked tirelessly to make many of the accomplishments possible. I’m excited for the future of the Hilltop District, as we’ve a lot to look forward to. Hilltop District is working closely with Prologis to bring Costco at the Hilltop Mall Site. There may be an opportunity to bring Costco as Phase 1 of the project as the City and Prologis continue to work on the overall plan for the Hilltop Mall area. We’re excited that the Marriott has also started operating as a regular Hotel.

We continue to meet with the City staff on a monthly basis to make many improvements in our district, including traffic light repairs, sign repairs, pot holes, landscaping improvements and other infrastructure upgrades. Feel free to reach out to us if you see any opportunity to improve our neighborhoods by email (president@hilltopdistrict.org).

I look forward to working with all of you to continue to improve the livability, safety, and appearance of our neighborhood.

Bhavin Khatri
Hilltop District Neighborhood Council President
